I have video of the home featured on my Instagram here but wanted to share a few photo highlights here on the blog as well.
The Living Room and Kitchen
The living room featured a floor to ceiling tabby fireplace feature. Tabby is a type of concrete made by burning oyster shells to create lime then mixing it with water, sand, ash and broken oyster shells. It was used by the Spanish and English in the south dating back to the 1600s and is very common in South Carolina and Georgia. It’s one of my favorite details of the home.
The kitchen featured floor to ceiling cabinetry, white quartz counters, and a herringbone deep blue tile backsplash. Doors to the back porch were both in the living and dining room.
The master bedroom was my favorite room of the house just because of all the gorgeous coral. I was able to meet the designer Brian Patrick Flynn while touring the house and was terribly impressed with the work he did in the home.
He explained that when designing the home, he wanted it to appeal to the masses. He wanted to use color that would still appeal to people who love neutrals (raising hand) and he did a wonderful job of it, as you will see.
I love that the color is found in the fabrics in this room rather than the walls, and the use of many different tones of coral and pink give it such dimension.
Opposite the bed was a feature wall of driftwood that was pretty breathtaking in person, the photos don’t do it justice.
The color was carried into the master bath, which featured a gorgeous patterned tile.
The home also featured artwork everywhere, much of it abstract. Many pieces were by Bert John, who is an artist local to me here in Savannah.
The master closet was large and featured plenty of versatile storage.
Upstairs
The stairs led up to a landing where a fun foosball table sat. Plenty of art decorated the walls up the stairs, and you could get a good view of the kayak perched over the front door (such a fun decor element!)
There were two bathrooms and two bedrooms upstairs, each with a bright, beautiful color scheme, along with a bonus area featuring two flat screen TVs and sitting area, opening to the second story porch.
Exterior
The backyard of this house is AMAZING. It sits on a wide marshfront with gorgeous trees. The pool is flanked by pavers and artificial grass for easy upkeep. There was also a built in fire pit and outdoor kitchen.
One of my favorite features was the back porch. It spanned the entire width of the house and is accessible through the master bedroom, living room, and dining room. It also had retractable screens which I love because we get very bad gnats in the spring and fall here.
Finally, there was a large mudroom/laundry room that had a fun built in dog crate. It had doors leading to the back yard and garages.
I hope you enjoyed this peek inside the gorgeous HGTV Dream Home 2020. Don’t forget to enter to win twice daily! (Then invite me over if you are the lucky winner!)
