American Flag Pegboard
After giving Jack’s vintage map desk a makeover we realized he was going to need more storage that just the one drawer if we wanted to have any semblance of order. I was in the process of organizing the garage (more on that later) so I picked up some pegboard for his room as well. He specifically asked for an American flag and picked out the red, white, and blue spray paint himself (training him young to love spray paint!)
I cut the board to 2′ by 3′ to fit the space above his desk then gave it a quick coat of satin white. (Yes, I currently use the empty lot next to my house to spray paint so you’ll see lots of brush in the background!)
Whenthe white was dry I taped off the red stripes and blue areas. I covered the blue with scrap paper then spray painted the red. When that was dry (this crazy summer heat helped speed that process along!) I retaped the blue area and sprayed that too. It was a little nerve-wracking to peel the tape off and see how it was going to look but it turned out wonderfully! Here it is in his room:
Now I just need to pick up some accessories for him to hang on it and keep his things in!

OH I just love this idea, decorative and functional!
That is darling! So much better than plain old pegboard!
