What is You’ve Been BOOed?
Have you been “BOOed” yet this year?
Every year as Halloween time nears, my neighborhood gets covered in “We’ve Been BOOed” signs through the month of October.
If you’re not familiar with the tradition, generally you leave a surprise gift basket full of Halloween treats on a neighbor’s porch or doorstep along with an instruction sheet to continue paying it forward and a sign to post on their door or front window that identifies them as having already been “BOOed!”
My kiddos love to knock on a neighbor’s front door before sneaking away, although truth be told they aren’t the best as not spilling the beans! In fact, it’s task #3 on our Halloween countdown bucket list!

What is a BOO Bag?
Some areas call this tradition “ghosting” or “boo-gramming” or leaving Boo Bags or Boo Baskets. Any way you describe it, boo-ing is a fun Halloween tradition!
How to Make a You’ve Been BOOed Treat
For our BOO treat this year I made a gift in a jar. I filled the bottom third of my jar with Reeces Pieces, then added a plastic bag full of goldfish crackers for the second layer.
I topped it off with candy corn (a classic!) and a pretty orange bow. I like to add the goldfish in there especially for families with younger children that might not be able to indulge in the sweets that older kids can.
You can find boo buckets or trick or treat bags with Halloween themes at the dollar store or use Halloween gift bags or treat bags if you don’t want to use a mason jar.

Thanks for stopping by Natalie…off to check your site!
I love that your boo instructions don’t have a 2 day time limit! Last year we boo’d a couple neighbors, but they didn’t pass it along. When we asked about it later, they said they were too busy, and the two day time limit had passed, so they just gave up.
We will use your printable this year and see if that works better!
Thank you!!!!
So cute and such a wonderful idea! Everything you do is amazing! Thank you for thinking of everyone!
I love your printable Have a great Halloween
