October Bucket List

October always feels like the perfect time to cozy up and celebrate all things Halloween and fall. I love getting lost in pumpkin patches, bonfires, and spooky fun that make this season so special. Let’s enjoy every crisp, festive moment together!

Halloween Movie Marathon

Get comfy, grab your favorite snacks, and spend the night watching spooky (or silly) Halloween movies. Whether you go for classics or kid-friendly fun (or both!), it’s the perfect way to enjoy a cozy October evening.

Some of our favorites when my boys were younger were the classic It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Casper but nowadays we end up watching scarier movies like Nightmare on Elm Street or the Halloween franchise. Some years, my husband will even set us up for a movie night outside to enjoy the evening ambiance!

Go To Pumpkin Patch

Take a trip to your local patch and pick out the best pumpkins you can find. Snap some photos, sip some cider, and enjoy all the fall fun that comes with it. I always find it way more exciting to go to the pumpkin patch and pick your pumpkin out than to grab one from the grocery store!

Read Ghost Stories

Pull out a few spooky stories, light a candle, and read aloud with family or friends. It’s a fun way to set the mood for Halloween, and just the right amount of chill for a cozy October evening.

Bake Pumpkin Bread

Fill your kitchen with the warm, comforting aroma of fresh pumpkin bread. (Our favorites are this cream cheese swirled pumpkin bread or this chocolate pumpkin bread!) Soft, spiced, and slightly sweet, it’s the perfect treat to enjoy with a cup of tea or share with friends.

Roast Pumpkin Seeds

Don’t toss those seeds when carving your jack-o-lanterns. Roast them for a crunchy, salty snack! Season them your way and enjoy a tasty reminder of the pumpkin fun, perfect for cozy fall afternoons.

Trick or Treat or Hand Out Candy

Whether you’re dressing up and going door-to-door or welcoming little ghosts and goblins at your doorstep, handing out candy is a joyful part of Halloween night that brings smiles all around.

Collect colorful fall leaves on a crisp day and press them to preserve their beauty. Or you can press them between the pages of a heavy book. After a week or two, you can use it for crafts, decorations, or just to admire the season’s colors up close.

For younger children with a little less patience, I like making these coffee filter pumpkins as an easy afternoon activity.

Take a Nature Walk

Step outside and enjoy the cool air and vibrant fall foliage. A nature walk is a refreshing way to slow down, breathe deeply, and soak in the beauty of October’s colors (if you are lucky enough to have them, south Georgia is a bit lacking in that area!)

Go On a Hayride

Climb aboard a hayride for a fun, classic fall experience. Whether through a farm or a scenic trail, it’s a cozy way to enjoy the season with friends and family, or in some cases, creepy if your town has haunted hayrides!
