The Look on a Budget: Hollywood Regency
I was not an interior design student in college, nor did I ever know much about design in general until I started blogging about home decor. I knew what I liked, and what I didn’t and that was about as far as it went. Recently I found myself drawn over and over to similarly styled spaces and one day my good blogging friend Kelly from View Along the Way finally put a name on this “style” I was falling head over heels for: Hollywood Regency.
Hollywood Regency was a style made popular in the 30s and is enjoying a resurgence. Some hallmarks of the style are laquered and mirrored finishes, fretwork and bamboo patterns, Chinoserie styles, rich colors and fabrics and luxe metallics. Here are some gorgeous Hollywood Regency spaces:
Gorgeous, isn’t it?
I’m working on a little Hollywood Regency style furniture makeover I hope to share with you next week but in the meantime, I have gathered some affordable Hollywood Regency styled goodies for you from around the web (you can see I lean towards the neutrals and metallics!):
1. White Mirrored Cabinet from Kirklands 2. Starburst Mirror from Lamps Plus $205 3. Fretwork Window Panels from Target $25 4. Mirrored Accent Table from World Market $219 5. Vintage Brass Cranes via Etsy $25 6. Tufted Loveseat from Pier1 $599 7. Wall Mirror via Target $40 8. Brushed Steel Table Lamp via Kirklands $50
And want to know a little secret? I just bought that settee for my dining room-turned-sitting room/bar and I’ll be sharing that progress soon too!
What do you think of the Hollywood Regency style? Would you integrate it into your decor?
Yep, I love every single piece! i just grabbed a pair of those brass cranes at a yard sale for 50 cents each! I couldn’t pay the lady fast enough. It’s amazing what it does for your decorating once you can put on a name on the style you like!
I bought a huge 1928 home with hopes of decorating it to the max. My mom came for a visit and told me about this style I so desperately wanted. Hollywood Regency is definitely what I wanted. I love every single piece on this page.
I love this style…and the name. All the pieces are gorgeous. Great ideas.
I love this style too! Can’t wait to see your new living room set up!
That mirror from Target is divine and I love that Kirklands cabinet – GORGEOUS!
I love that this look is making a comeback, don’t you!?
I love the look of that first picture! So clean and bright. Maybe in 20 years when I’m not so worried about that white couch and my boys chocolate obsession. 😀
Oh I know-one day I’ll get my white couch too!
That Target mirror I was able to snag at my local Goodwill (still in the packaging) for $20 🙂 I was SO excited! I love those curtains as well 🙂
What a lucky find!
i love your picks! i love the hollywood regency style!
Thanks, I love the glam look!
I love this look!! Especially love that mirrored cabinet (#1) from Kirklands. Great finds and prices! Can’t wait to see your makeover.
Great selection. We don’t have Kirklands where I live, but I checked out their site. Hope you will stop by my Glamorous Decor Made Affordable Board on Pinterest.

My grandmother had style and an eye… what an eye! I have many if her furnishings, and could not put a name in it till recently. Brass accents, gold rimmed dishes, rich Asian carpets, beautiful silk screens. I am a lucky girl.
I haven’t her eye.. so I am delighted to know this style has a name, and I have a chance of moving forward and honoring her style, and not messing this up!
