DIY Patio Makeover Reveal

Finally! The pictures I’ve been waiting to share with you all for weeks (and you would have gotten them a good two weeks ago if the baby hadn’t killed my laptop!) After I lost my original pictures we had an insane amount of pollen roll in and I had to wait for it to let up a bit so I could rephotograph the patio-but here it is!
{eek!}
I’m in love with the difference in the back patio!

I already shared our DIY Pottery Barn Inspired Dining Table and the Vintage Chair Makeover, but I haven’t told you about the rest of the chairs yet. That blue chair was another ReStore find, for just $5 and it got a few cost of Valspar Outdoor Gloss Peacock Blue. The metal chairs I bought at Target but they were black so I painted them with Valspar Outdoor in Satin Morning Mist. This was my first time trying the Valspar Outdoor line and it went on fantastic. I chose it specifically for the metal chairs because it is supposed to prevent rust. It sprayed on so nicely-I highly recommend it (this is not a sponsored post, it was just great!)

The pillows I made myself. The yellow is Premier Prints Towers in Citrus Yellow, the green is Richloom Solarium in Kirkwood Palm, and then you’ll recognize the ikat as part of the Target Shower Curtain I used to reupholster the vintage chair.

We also replaced our old, decaying grill with a new one we got on sale at Big Lot’s for $180, and added string lighting I found on sale at Target.
The place settings were frugal as well-the plates were four for $1.50 at Walmart and the napkins are from World Market. I buy all of my cloth napkins at World Market (we only use cloth napkins unless we have a big cookout), they have great prices and tons of colors. Oh, and the honeycomb vase was another Target find!

There are a few things I’d love to add to complete the space-an area rug would be amazing. I’m also thinking of adding some curtains on the side of the patio opposite the pool to allow us more privacy while swimming later this year.
Overall though I’m just in love with my bright cheery space! I can’t wait to show you where I moved the old patio furniture and the little spruce up it received too!
I’d love to hear what you think!

Melissa, it looks wonderful and you can tell that talented hubby of yours that his table rocks the space! You guys did a great job and I’m sure you’ll have so much fun out there this spring and summer! Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful…so peaceful and pretty. Love it, Melissa!
Thanks so much Roeshel! It’s my “happy place!”
Hi, LOVE what you’ve done to your backyard space. We have a similar layout with pool and lots of trees. I was wondering if you could possibly share with me some more pictures of the backyard so I can see the fencing around the pool. I have looked and looked for ideas online, but have never found one close enough to our layout. Yours is almost identical. We are trying to decide what to do with our current fence as it is a pain to walk around. What made you decide to fence directly around the pool as well as around the yard? Any input would be helpful! THanks again,
Krisha
Go Krisha, we had to fence off the pool per local code. They specified a four foot fence with self latching/self-closing gate so that is what we had put in. The rest of the yard we did a six foot privacy fence on the sides and the same four foot aluminum along the back of the lot because we back up to wetlands and didn’t want to obstruct our view. I’m on my phone right now so I can’t send more pictures but if you let me know what exactly you’d like a better view of I can send them to you!
Thanks, hope you have a great weekend!
(That was supposed to say “hi” not “go” at the beginning-phone typing gone wrong!!)
Such a lovely, cheery space—perfect for spring and summer! I like the color combinations and how well you paired the patterns. Also dig that the chairs are each different and not all matching. It adds a lot more interest to the space. Great job!
Thanks so much Angela! Have a great weekend!
I love this! I created an “outdoor living space” last summer but you made me want to revamp it again. Here is a blog about it but if you have any suggestions on how to improve it…I’m all ears. Well, eyes

It looks great! I love the lattice wall!
I love how the chairs are mismatched but feel cohesive! I’ll be taking a few tips here for use on our sun porch!
Thanks so much Corinna!!
